

Bija Teacher Trainings
There's no greater way to impact lives as a yoga teacher than to teach
children.
Join Bija Kids Senior Teacher Trainers for an intensive training experience that will
comprehensively prepare you to teach yoga to children from conception to age nine.
Bija Kids offers our Core Training and a series of continuing education modules
for those who are who are interested in learning more or adding to their current teaching
experience.
Bija teacher training is open to yoga teachers, school teachers, parents, physical and
occupational therapists, child psychologists and anyone else interested in sharing the
valuable gifts and tools that yoga can offer children.
All trainings take place from 10am - 6pm on the dates listed below.
Core Training
October 14 - 16

Lauren Maples, Bija Kids Founder and Director, teaches the principles and elements of all
Bija Kids Yoga classes and how to apply them to specific curriculum for crawlers through age
nine. Core Training instruction includes asana, pranayama, games, relaxation techniques,
team building exercises, incorporating storytime into yoga class and more. Trainees will learn
rhythm and chanting activities, Bija Kids songs, how to adapt curriculum to different
environments. Throughout the training participants will work experientially in groups and
individually exploring and workshopping concepts and techniques. A one hour break will be
offered each day and vegetarian snacks and tea will be served throughout the day.

Presenting Oneself in Context
October 29

Kathryn Maloney, Communication Expert and Strategist, develops trainees strengths as
yogis in action. The communication segment equips students with fundamental awareness
and practical communication tools, techniques, and theory to approach their teaching style,
clients, students, and parents from a foundation of clarity, insight, and authenticity.
Class Management
November 12

Lauren Maples teaches techniques for class management challenges from crawlers through
age nine. The Class Management Module includes workshopping common class scenarios
and applying specific techniques to handle transitions, set clear boundaries, and manage
expectations.
Bija Kids for Special Needs Children
December 3

Bija Kids Core principles and techniques are available to all with simple and effective
adaptations. Learn how to safely bring yoga to children with a variety of special needs in both
group and one on one settings.
Child Development Part I
January 7

Kristen Bower, Bija Assistant director, nurse, and doula shares her vast knowledge to
educate trainees about children's physical development from conception through age twelve.
Part I includes in-depth anatomy curriculum contextualized in the specific yoga poses that are
presented in Bija Kids classes.
Child Development Part II
January 8

Child Development Part II will properly verse trainees in the mental and emotional growth of
children from conception to age twelve. Part II includes in-depth social, cognitive and motor
growth curriculum so trainees understand more fully how children think, feel, and relate to
each other, the adults in their lives, and a yoga practice at each stage of their individual
development.
Bija Kids for Tweens
January 28

Learn how to adapt children's classes for tween (age 9 - 12) practitioners. Discussion of
asana, pranayama, mediation techniques, structuring a class and dharma will guide trainees
through ways to make classes fun, accessible, safe and constructive. Classroom
management techniques will be discussed and trainees will have ample time to practice
teaching sequences and discussing specific class environments.
Classroom Time and Home Study
$400
During the 25 hour classroom and home study expectation, each trainee will work
independently, yet with mentorship, to develop skill, confidence, and readiness to lead Bija
Kids Yoga classes. This segment includes such activities as classroom observation,
journaling, at-home class planning, and peer discussions/feedback. Each trainee will lead
live Bija Kids classes and receive Bija Director critique. In addition to these 25 hours of
classroom time and home study, all Bija Kids trainees are expected to maintain a regular
asana and meditation practice during teacher training to inform their thinking and
understanding of the comprehensive training.
